Uses to explore
What works well
- 400mm gives you a fixed, consistent framing option.
- f/2.8 admits more light than a typical kit zoom and supports shallow depth of field.
- Optical stabilization helps reduce camera shake when handholding still subjects.
The tradeoffs
- No zoom: change your position or switch lenses to change framing.
- At about 2890g, consider handling and support before buying.

Will it fit my camera?
Fits both full-frame and APS-C Canon EOS R cameras directly. On APS-C, the view is narrower: multiply the focal length by 1.6 for the full-frame equivalent angle of view.
Not for Canon EF, EF-M or DSLR camera bodies.
